Getting work done through social media sites can be frustrating. You have no idea how each person on the network will behave given the circumstances. One day they will all be in your favor and by the very next day you will fail to get any attention no matter what tactics you try.

The notion of gaining ROI (Return on Investment) in the realm of social media marketing is not appreciated. If you think you can gain a certain tangible amount of assured results per day, you will be proven greatly wrong.  Although, you can determine the results of your efforts given the probability of how they have worked the previous number of times, then again, this is only a probability.

Getting used to social media marketing takes time and lots of undisturbed effort. If you lose hope and abandon your work for more than several weeks, then you will most probably be in a situation to start all over again. Constant updating of Twitter, Facebook, Blogs and constant interaction with fellow networkers is how you slowly build a community. You need feedback, no matter whether it is negative or positive.

For a long period of time there has been a mentality of expecting too much from your least effort. The ‘something for nothing’ concept has lead to too many confusing and disappointing marketing results. No one would give you something for nothing; you need to understand that very well. This age old perception in online marketing methods has lead to far too many failures.

Panda and Keyword Density

With the recent update of Google’s search algorithm many websites have taken a backseat with their page rankings. The keyword density used in the prior update has become less significant now, more so that you may under serious danger if you still insist your SEO techniques to follow what was norm when Penguin was at large.

With the release of Panda many SEO specialists have been working steadfast to change modify the contents of their sites for it to please the new Google search standards. The constantly changing SEO techniques seldom allow a method of practice to stay for a prolonged time. In the realm of search engine optimization, one needs to habitually update themselves to keep ahead of the game and not let any competitive site to overtake you.

There are a lot of debates on what is the correct percentage of keywords when it comes to Panda and keyword density; the answer to that is, 1 to 2% keyword density. There will be a staggering number of people strongly suggesting a 3 to 4% usage of keywords, but that will only result as a failure.

You may find a number of sites that assess and calculate the density. There are also a few algorithms and formula’s that confuse more than help. Calculating keyword is no big task, to put it in simple terms your keyword has to appear just once or twice every hundred words.

Now, the one-two percent density is for the primary keyword. For secondary ones you can go up to 5 or even 8%. This may seem a little too much, but as long as you make sense in your article you have nothing to worry about. Panda and keyword density may have had quite a few quarrels in the beginning, as time rolls down it has become very clear as to what tactics work and what don’t. Until the next major change in SEO standards this is what you should drill into your minds.

5 Common Online Marketing Misconceptions

Of all the new age integration of Social Media techniques into the online marketing mix, many have conjured their own innovative ideas on how to get the best results. Although, not all of them are guaranteed to work.

The constantly changing SEO techniques with the widely growing demand for it have lead to the birth of many concepts and beliefs about how SEO is conducted. The periodical changing of search algorithms of major search engine sites have lead to new SEO and social media concepts at the same time debunking previously used methods. With the recent update of Google’s new search ranking algorithm many previous SEO techniques had to be abandoned.

Saying Social Media replaced SEO is another common online marketing misconception. Very widespread too, so much that people have started believing it. This one also makes it to our list of 5 common SEO Errors, here are the rest:

1. The search engines can be cheated.

Search engines are getting smarter as we speak. So are the constantly changing SEO techniques. Whatever attempts you do to trick your way to top ranks will definitely be discovered and the only consequence of that is your site getting delisted.

2. Social media has nothing to do with SEO

On the contrary, Social Media has a lot to do with SEO. Social Media sites help immensely in increasing page rankings. It is the most common place for your page/brand/service to get viral. Creating a Social Media presence is highly recommended, this will help you almost immediately and more so in the long run.

3. Social Media replaced SEO

This is absolutely false. It is one of those concepts that is almost believable, but even with a little sense you’d see the fallacy. No matter how widespread and contagious Social Media may get, there will always be search engines and people will keep using it to look for things. SEO is there for the long run.

4. All SEO needs is Link Building

Link building is one of the first steps in achieving quality SEO results, but relying on it solely won’t get you much visits. Quality Link Building is a strategy that does not come easy to many. If you get it right, you’d probably have a stable source of traffic but it can’t be guaranteed. This has to be a constant process than a onetime event.

5. Higher the Keyword Density Better the Ranking

This has got to be the top listed item of the common online marketing misconceptions. Overdosing your article with keywords is seen equal to spamming. Moreover, the search engines nowadays are too strict in their ranking methods. They ruthlessly discredit a keyword filled page. Once your page/site has been blacklisted by a search engine, it is almost impossible to get back its proper status.
